आज उमेश से मिला वो अब भी मुझमें है मेरे पास है उसी तरह जैसे कि वो मिला था एक दुकान के बाहर दस साल का उमेश होली में रंग बेच रहा है वहीं पास के किसी स्कूल में दाखिला है उसका नेपाल में किसी जगह से है उसकी आवाज में आत्मविश्वास था जिसने मजबूर किया मुझे उससे बात करने के लिए शहर की भीड़ में सिर्फ उमेश ने मुझे अपनी तरफ खींचा मेरी कमर तक था कद उसका और आँखें कई कहानियाँ अभिव्यक्त कर रही थी उसके गले में एक मैला सा मफलर था जिसका रंग उन रंगों से मिलता जिन्हें वो बेच रहा है होली में सोचता हूं कि उमेश जैसे मासूम सारी दुनिया से बेखबर अपने भविष्य के रंगों से बेखबर बेखबर सरकारों से रंगों की एक अलग दुनिया में है जो उसके लिए नहीं हैं मैं मुस्कुराते हुए चेहरे के साथ उमेश के सर को सहलाकर उससे हाथ मिलाकर विदा लेता हूँ और उमेश जैसे कई बच्चों से मिलने की चाह रखता हूँ लेकिन रंग बेचते हुए सड़क पर नहीं कहीं और खुद की जिंदगी को और दुनिया को रंगते हुए खुशनुमा रंगों में आज उमेश से मिला वो अब भी मुझमे है                 'अनपढ़' 16 मार्च 2019
